What kayaking costs in Rishikesh at a glance
| What you're buying | Typical price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Short guided run | ₹800–₹1,500 | A taste of paddling on easy water. No real skills taught. |
| Single-day lesson | Around ₹3,500 a day | One day of instruction. Good for trying it out, not for learning to run rapids. |
| 4-day beginner course | About ₹12,000–₹18,500 for the course | Wet exits, strokes, eddies, a first roll, and Class II rapids by the end. |
| 7-day course | About ₹21,000 for the course | Everything in 4 days plus Class III, the combat roll and scouting. |
| Multi-day kayak expedition | From ₹25,000 | 2 nights of river camping, all meals, support raft, 68–78 km of river. |
Our prices
- 4-day beginner course: ₹3,499 per person per day, which is ₹13,996 for the full course.
- 7-day whitewater course: ₹2,999 per person per day, which is ₹20,993 for the full course.
- 3-day Devprayag kayak expedition: from ₹25,000 per person for the whole trip, depending on the season and group size.
Each day on the 7-day course costs ₹500 less than on the 4-day course. The slower pace means we can teach a wider mix of people per group, and the extra days give the roll time to sink in. Three extra days cost about ₹7,000 more in total and take you from Class II to Class III.
What others charge
Here's what other operators listed on Google in October 2026, so you can see the range:
- Bikat Adventures, 4-day basic course: ₹18,500 + 5% GST for the course, about ₹4,600 a day. One instructor for every two students, 5–6 hours a day.
- Team 4 Adventure, 4-day basic course: listed at ₹2,999.
- Other Rishikesh camps and operators: ₹3,200–₹3,500, with at least one quoting ₹3,500 a day.
Some listings are per day and some are for the whole course, so always ask which before you compare. Prices change, so check with each operator before you book.
Why prices vary so much
- Students per instructor. At 1:2 you get more attention but pay for it. We cap groups at five per instructor.
- Hours on the water. Our sessions are 3–4 hours each morning. Some schools run 5–6 hours.
- What's included. Check whether the price covers transport to the river, a wet suit and booties in winter, a spray deck, a safety kayaker and video review. Ours does.
- Instructor qualifications. Our instructors are WPA / BCU certified whitewater kayak instructors.
- GST and booking fees. Some prices you see exclude tax.
Costs that aren't in any course price
- Somewhere to stay. Guesthouses in Tapovan, near our office, run from ₹400 to ₹1,500 a night.
- Food and drinks. Keep some cash for chai and snacks at the river.
- Travel insurance. Recommended for courses and required for the expedition.
How to choose
If you only want to try kayaking for an hour, a short run is fine. If you want to come away able to paddle a rapid by yourself, you need at least four days. The 4-day course gets you to Class II, and the 7-day course gets you to Class III. For more help deciding, read 4-day vs 7-day: which course to choose.
Quick answers
How much does a kayaking course cost in Rishikesh?
Most schools charge around ₹3,000–₹3,500 per person per day, so a 4-day beginner course comes to roughly ₹12,000–₹18,500 depending on the school. Our 4-day course is ₹3,499 a day (₹13,996 total) and our 7-day course is ₹2,999 a day (₹20,993 total).
Is accommodation included in kayaking course prices?
Usually not. Most schools, including ours, price the course only. Tapovan guesthouses cost ₹400–₹1,500 a night.
Why is the 7-day course cheaper per day?
The slower pace lets us teach a wider mix of students per group, and the longer course gives the roll more time. At ₹2,999 a day it's ₹500 a day less than the 4-day course.
